19.48.010 Title and purpose.

The ordinance codified in this article shall be known and may be cited as the “Maui County Historic Districts Ordinance.” In order to promote the economic, cultural and general welfare of the people of the county and to insure the harmonious, orderly and efficient growth and development of the county, it is deemed essential by the county council that the qualities relating to the history and culture of the county be preserved, thereby creating attractions for visitors and residents alike. 19.48.020 Establishment or modification of districts--Report and hearing.

Historic districts may be modified or extended and new historic districts established, provided in all such cases there shall be a report from the historic commission and a public hearing held by the historic commission. (Prior code § 8-3.11)

19.48.030 Applicability.

In the event any provision of this article conflicts with the provisions of article II of this title, the provisions of this article shall prevail. (Prior code § 8-3.21)

19.48.040 Administration.

The planning director shall provide planning, architectural, engineering, secretarial and other services as may be required by the commission. (Prior code § 8-3.19)

19.48.050 Enforcement.

It shall be the duty of the department of public works, through its director of public works, to enforce the provisions of this article. (Ord. 1016 § 1, 1980: prior code § 8-3.18)

19.48.060 Violation--Penalty.

Any person, firm, or corporation violating the provisions of this article, whether in connection therewith a penalty is referred to or not, for which violation no penalty is specifically prescribed, shall be fined in a sum not exceeding $500. (Ord. 817 § 2, 1975: prior code § 8-3.20)
