1.14.010 Revisor of county laws.

The county clerk, or a member of the staff of the office of the county clerk designated by the county clerk, shall be the revisor of county laws. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.020 Duties.

In performing the function of revising and publishing county laws, the duties of the revisor of county laws, in order of priority, shall be:

A. To publish and distribute supplements to the Maui County Code;

B. To publish and distribute replacement volumes of the Maui County Code;

C. To compile, publish, and distribute the following as appendices to the Maui County Code:

1. County charter;

2. Rules of the council; and

3. Rules and regulations promulgated by county agencies. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.030 Publication of supplements.

At least two times a year, the revisor of county laws shall cause the preparation and publication of a supplement to the Maui County Code. The supplement shall be composed of pages which can be incorporated into the Maui County Code by adding to or replacing the pages thereof. The supplement shall include appropriate revisions of the tables of contents, tables, index, appendices, and statements of legislative history in the Maui County Code. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.040 Revisions authorized.

In causing the preparation of supplements, the revisor of the county laws is authorized to make the following changes, provided that in making the changes, the revisor shall not alter the sense, meaning, or effect of any ordinance or rule:

1. Number and renumber titles, chapters, sections, and parts of sections;

2. Rearrange and reorganize sections and chapters;

3. Change reference numbers to agree with renumbered titles, chapters or sections;

4. Substitute the proper section or chapter numbers for the terms "the proceeding sections," "this ordinance," and like terms;

5. Strike out figures where they are merely a repetition of written words;

6. Change capitalization for the purpose of uniformity;

7. Correct manifest clerical or typographical errors;

8. Implement gender-neutral language and Hawaiian spelling of Hawaiian place names, where appropriate, and update and correct references to new and renamed departments; and

9. Make such other changes in any ordinance incorporated in the supplements and replacement volumes as shall be necessary to conform the style thereof to that of the Maui County Code. (Ord. 3098 § 1, 2002: Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.050 Publication of replacement volumes.

The revisor of county laws may cause the addition to, or replacement of, the volume or volumes of the Maui County Code. The replacement volume or volumes shall be kept up-to-date by supplements, described in Section 1.14.030. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.060 Printing of ordinances to be included in publications.

Whenever, in any ordinance, material to be repealed is bracketed and new material is underscored as a matter of bill drafting style, the revisor, in printing the ordinance, need not include brackets, the bracketed material, or the underscoring. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.070 Printing; contracts.

The revisor of county laws shall cause sufficient copies of the Maui County Code, supplements, and replacement volumes to be printed. The revisor may contract for the publication of such copies, supplements and replacement volumes. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.080 Distribution.

The completed volumes of the Maui County Code, supplements thereto, and replacement volumes shall be sold and distributed by the revisor at a price fixed by ordinance. The money received therefor shall be paid to the county general fund. The revisor may furnish the Maui County Code, including all supplements and replacement volumes, to public officials for official use free of charge. As used in this chapter, "public officials" includes elected and appointed officials of the federal, state and county governments. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)

1.14.090 Rules and regulations.

The revisor of county laws may promulgate rules and regulations to implement this chapter. (Ord. 1341 § 1 (part), 1983)
